Incoming: Crate Retirement(s)!

Still on the lookout for CC1 crates? Can’t get enough CC4 crates? The time to collect is now, because those crates will retire soon!

No worries if you have the CC1-4 crates in your inventory. These will not be deleted. The retirement will only apply to drop system. You might want to hang on to those crates for the future. Somebody might still want them!

Additionally Rocket League will retire crates after six months since their introduction in the game. But no worries, the items could be brought back with a Player Choice Crate in the future.

As said in the previous article. The next major Rocket League update will be shown at the RLCS within 2 weeks!

This is your 1st Player Choice Crate Content!

The results are in. Now it’s time to see if your choice has made the crate!

This will be the content:

The crate will be featured in the new major Rocket League update that is dropping very soon. So hold tight!

Rocket League responds on AFK players

Ever since the update came out and players were rewarded with crates in the game this has been an issue in several playlists. Now there is an official responds about this new phenomena.

This all started on the popular Rocket League subreddit where players where complaining about players being AFK or inactive just to get the crate at the end of the match. A frustrating issue. Specially in the new released Rumble playlist where this kind of thing doesn’t need to happen.

Luckily Rocket League is already taking action against players who AFK just to get a crate. And feel free to post players with video proof who doesn’t seem to understand the term team play. It’s time for the purge!

#Rumble update out now!

The long awaited update is now available for PC, PS4 and XBOX One users. Also in this update is the Mac and SteamOS version for Rocket League!

We all know what’s in the update by now. If you want to look up the content feel free to browse the article we published before or have a look at the patchnotes that have just been released.

Happy hunting!

Rumble Update: In depth – Crate(s) and Content

Rocket League is going all out with the Rumble update. With a new mode, new maps and new painted items we thought we had it all, boy were we wrong.

Because the update is so huge coming articles are split up in more readable pieces. You will get all the info you need, without reading through 2000 words, how about that! So first up is the new crate feature that is coming.

The crate system will help with the eSport financing of Rocket League. You can switch off the crate function. So if you don’t want anything to do with the feature, there is no harm done (more about this). The crates will drop alongside the normal drops of free content. So don’t worry about switching off and be left out from all the goodies.

Crates can drop randomly, but the keys will have to be bought. You can buy these in bulk (5/10/20) or individually. The prices will be somewhere around 1,49 USD or 5, 10, 20 USD if you buy in bulk.

So what can we buy?

Now we are getting to the most interesting part. With the crates you can unlock special content for your car. Think of decals, wheels and new cars. What? You heard right.

These special ‘Import’ Battle Cars be possibly unlocked. These cars are variants of the Dominus, Takumi, X-Devil and Road Hog (Images can be found here). There is no telling if the Import Battle Cars will be available through regular DLC at given time. But expect an announcement about that when it comes.

But what about Black Market items?

These items will come with no preview and you will have no way of knowing what you will be getting. You can take the risk or buy in safe with the normal crate dropping.

Be on the lookout for our second article about the Rumble update!

Rocket League Crate System incoming?

Just a few days ago a member of the /r/RocketLeague community on Reddit found some files related to a upcoming crate feature coming to Rocket League.

The makers of Rocket League have always stated that there won’t be a way for players to gain an advantage over another player by buying items. The DLC cars are on par with the Battle Cars that are already in the game. So even if you have a non DLC car, you can hold your own in matches.

Jeremy Dunham was made aware of the topic on Reddit and come with the following explanation:

Hey guys,

Those assets are, indeed, early pieces of an upcoming system we plan on implementing to fund our esports prize pools and events. We plan on officially announcing it next month at (or near) the RLCS Live Finals since it directly relates to that event and other events like it, but since this image came out before our official word, we wanted to clarify some things for you:

  • Crates will contain cosmetic content only. We have a strict “Don’t Sell Advantage” policy for Rocket League, and we’re sticking with that.
  • There will be no Steam Marketplace integration with crates. We are definitely aware of the problems related to third-party gambling in other games and we are not interested in taking that approach.
  • Players who don’t want to interact with this system can hide it entirely with a single checkbox. Also of note, this won’t affect or impact our current item-drop system in any way.
  • We also want to reassure you guys that we are sticking with our approach to keep introducing free new Arenas, Modes, and Items, along with the occasional paid DLC just like we always have.

Hope this helps shed some light on what we have planned. It’s actually a pretty cool system that we’ll be happy to share detail about next month.

Best regards,
